Numbers can only begin to tell the story: A 7,002 yard course along South Carolina's "Freshwater Coast" set within a 4,000-acre lakefront sporting community nestled in 63,368 acres of national forest land and state parks along the 70,000 acre Lake Thurmond (also known as Clarks Hill Lake). The rest must be felt in the breeze as it passes over the water and heard in the strike of a club against a ball in a memorable round of golf shared with friends.
The Tara Golf Course masterfully meanders through the hillsides of the Sumter National Forest, Lake Thurmond, the Little River Blueway, and the established community of Savannah Lakes Village. The golf experience enhanced by neighboring wildlife including large bird populations, deer, raccoons, red-tipped hawks, and frequent bald eagle sightings. The rolling topography of the land is gradually exposed throughout your round, with stately oaks and pines perfectly framing each hole. The signature feature of the course is a large shared green for holes #9 and #18 overlooking Lake Thurmond. The Tara Golf Club was the first of two 18 hole courses designed for the community by Tom Clark.
